Description: Residential Development

Planning Architecture placed a bid for this project to take from RIBA stage 0-7, the proposal was also for 9 terraced houses, comprising of demolition of the existing garages and erection of 9 dwellings, comprising of 1 No. 5 Bedroom, 5 No. 4 Bedroom and 3 No. 3 Bedroom houses with associated amenity, car parking and refuse areas.

Our design approach sought a balance of modernity with traditional to ensure continuity and empathy with the surrounding properties. The area boasts a range of architectural styles, from Georgian-style houses to the rear of the site to a flat roof block of flats to the east.

The design provided a more unique approach by the use of Zinc external cladding for the building façade and providing communal cycle and refuse areas given the shape of the application site and making use of the area, this approach ensured compliance with the SPG and meeting the London Living Standards.

The design of the proposal was tailored to seamlessly blend with the local architectural style, both in terms of its aesthetics and its functional use. Several architectural features and intricate details have been thoughtfully integrated into the design to achieve a harmonious overall effect. Embracing traditional materials, such as the usage of Red and buff stock bricks, serves to anchor the proposal within its surroundings. Additionally, the application of timber cladding on the ground floor’s setback elements introduces an element of softness. The selection of these materials is not only to ensure a lasting character but also to ensure the design’s enduring appeal as it matures over time
